Blast From The Past: What Is The ‘Internet?’

A pretty interesting video has been making rounds on YouTube recently. It’s a clip of an episode from The Today Show shot in 1994 featuring Katie Couric and Brian Gumbel trying to understand the so-called “Internet.”

“What, do you write to it? Like mail?”

“Can you explain what the Internet is?”

I suppose to their credit, this was 1994. Half the world didn’t own a personal computer and most certainly they did not have Google or Wikipedia. Regardless, I still take pride knowing that I was more knowledgeable about the Internet in 1994 as a child than man-child Gumbel.
