The Max Planck Institute in Germany apparently loved Chinese writing so much that they printed what they thought was a poignant poem on the front cover to their latest journal magazine. For authenticity’s sake, they even consulted an expert on China to make sure the Chinese poem was to their standard. This expert however, was not Chinese, but instead German… What does this have to do with anything you ask?
Well since its publication, it has been discovered that the Chinese poem is not actually a poem, but an ad for a brothel promising “burlesque acts by beauties like jade housewives with hot bodies for daytime gentlemen visitors.”
The institute has since issued an apology and the cover has been changed.
