The other day I saw a new commercial for Burger king’s 99 cent kid’s meals on tv. It was a 30 second spot of Sir Mix a lot and the Burger King performing a version of I like big butts aimed at Spongebob fans called I like Square Butts. It was probably one of the funnier commercials I’ve seen them do in a really long time and it was way better than their last celeb effort with the dude from Hootie and the blow fish.
Here’s where it gets scary. Apparently, BK was not happy to just have the 30 second commercial. They went and had the entire full length song done and released on line as a viral marketing campaign. At first I thought it was a pretty stupid idea, but then I realized I was writing a post on it so they apparently know what they are doing.
Oh, just a little FYI for all you bargain hunters. The kids meals are 99 cents, but only when you purchase a value meal at full price.
The new series is set for a two-episode premiere, June 4 on Disney+.
