You don’t have to worry about your news anchors going off the government approved script if they have no free will. Now that China’s news agency has an AI news reader, there’s no worry that it could happen. The hyper-realistic news reader was unveiled on Wednesday, and while it looks impressive, they seem to still have a couple of kinks to work out.
Aside from the super-robot voice that they are working with, the AI seems to be making some leaps as to the meaning of different words. For example, when talking about Alibaba CEO, Jack Ma, the AI assumed that Ma was meant as the abbreviation for Massachusetts.
Still, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I for one welcome our new robot overlords.
