Artist Anna Giordano has taken some of the most famous classic paintings of women and photo shopped them to show us what a huge pile of douche bags we have become as a society. She took these classic images of beautiful women and then altered them so that they’d fit into today’s standard of beauty. The result is a skinnier, more polished and soulless set of paintings that would probably make the men of the Renaissance wonder if these women were suffering from consumption.
Apart from highlighting once again the amazing possibilities of digital technologies applied to art, this job from Anna Giordano is indeed a good cue to reconsider both the subjectivity of cultural standards (in facts, ours are so different from the past ones) and the inclination of modern society and advertising companies to edit most images of feminine body in order to reach a fake perfection, corresponding to an unreachable reality.
