California has to be one of the more dangerous cities to live in. There are earthquakes, possible tsunamis, liquification zones as well as hotspots for military weapon caches. According to the SF-based company Go Games, maybe it’s time we start adding the flesh eating undead to the list.
Beginning Thursday, you can learn disaster survival skills in addition to learning how to stab and decapitate the undead. It’s part-zombie smacdown, part disaster prep, and is the latest event from Go Games who organizes the city’s biggest flash mobs and team adventure games.
“This game has been a personal pipe dream for a long long time,” says organizer Jenny Gottstein. “The idea is to empower communities to take control of their safety…through play!”
Like all of Go Game’s adventures, Zombie Survival Challenge is a team event. You can sign up alone and they’ll match you up with a team, or you can come as an existing group of four or five (costume’s are encouraged). One team member needs an iPhone 4 to receive your team’s missions.
But it’s not all just fun and games, as a participant in Zombie Survival you’ll also be helping homeless kids (the event is a benefit for Project Night Night).
If you survive the undead, the winning team will win a professional emergency kit as well as the satisfaction knowing that you’re zombie proof… that is until the actual apocalypse occurs. Then you better hope you just have good cardio.
The Zombie Survival Challenge takes place in the Lower Haight held from 6-9 pm on Thursday, July 7 in the Lower Haight. To sign up, visit Go Game’s invite.
