While in America we toy away with augmented reality as gimmicky 3D baseball cards or very boring tech toys for kids, Japan has actually found a practical use for it even if it’s something as simple as a “smart” cosmetic mirror. The Digital Cosmetic Mirror by Shiseido can be used to test make-up and recommendations without having the user to even try any on. The results are achieved with a few simple button presses and the results are almost instantaneous. It even prints out a before and after photo for you with product information and a list of recommended buys.
