A Korean Otaku (geek) man has married his dakimaura, a.k.a. a body pillow with a Japanese anime girl drawn on it. The girl depicted on the pillow is Fate Testarossa from the anime Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha.
The footage belows is from a Korean news outlet covering the wedding day and some footage showing the man taking his “bride” to a theme park, where they ride the carousel and roller coaster.
According to the report, Anime body pillows have become an underground trend, especially in Japan, where men and young boys form relationships with them.
This isn’t the first time someone has married an anime-inspired object. In November 2009, a Japanese man married his virtual girlfriend from a Nintendo DS romance simulator in Gwam.
An online petition has even formed with over 500 signatures, calling on the Japanese government to officially recognize people’s right to marry two-dimensional characters.
“We’ve no interest in the 3D. If we could, we’d like to live in a 2D world.”
While I’m almost certain that this was done for laughs and to basically mock those who really do (AKA the Japanese)… a part of me is unsure. On the bright side, at least these people will never have the need to appear on Maury for a paternity test.
