Although minimalist posters are cool, they lack effort and omit the essence of the characters. Artist Mark Grambau knows that and has created his own unique silhouette set of superhero themed posters in order to emphasize their bold shapes and colors. Here’s what he had to say:
“I’ve been known to have an unhealthy obsession with superheroes. What began as childhood enthusiasm evolved into a love of sequential art, an appreciation for the branding and symbology of these characters, and an understanding of their function as modern mythology. In this personal project, I sought to bridge my passions for illustration and design, capturing the essence of each character through bold shapes and colors.”
My favorite has got to be the Venom, Superman and Green Lantern designs. Very simple, yet elegant. Straight to the depth of what the character is all about. Now that’s good design!
