Some of you may have seen the teaser last week for Nike’s new World Cup 2010 commercial, well screw that, the full three-minute behemoth is now out and it’ll be the best three minutes of your life! The commercial isn’t set to air until Saturday’s Champions League final, so consider this a privileged first look!
Now, I’m no “futbol” fanatic, in fact, I pretty much dislike-to-not-care about soccer, but I won’t deny that World Cup fever has taken a bit over and the fact that, we’ll it is a big freaking deal. While most Nike ads are pretty interesting, this is “interesting” injected with steroids (probably a poor choice of wording).
The commercial features some soccer greats such as Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney, Fabio Cannavaro, Landon Donovan and Cristiano Ronaldo, with special guest appearances from some of pop cultures greatest. To say anymore would spoil it.
The commercial, which watches more like a short film and is directed by Alejandro Inarritu (“21 Grams” and “Babel”).
Just watch and enjooooooooooooooooooooooooyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
