We aren’t sure if this is life imitating art or art imitating life, either way, Nancy Crampton-Brophy has now been formally accused of killing her husband several years after writing a blog post about how one would go about killing their husband.
Her husband, 63-year-old husband chef Daniel Brophy was found by students at the Oregon Culinary Institute on the morning of June 2nd with a gunshot to the chest. It wasn’t very long before police attention turned to chef Brophy’s widow and the blog post she wrote in 2011 titles: “How to Murder Your Husband.” Here’s an excerpt of the post from the self-published romance novelist:
“As a romantic suspense writer, I spend a lot of time thinking about murder and, consequently, about police procedure,” the post read. “After all, if the murder is supposed to set me free, I certainly don’t want to spend any time in jail. And let me say clearly for the record, I don’t like jumpsuits and orange isn’t my color.”
Throughout the post, she discussed the positives and negatives of various ways to kill your husband including weapons and the downsides of having to get very close if you use a knife. Ironically, she also included the following warning:
“Most of the time there is a trail that leads directly to you. Each type of murder leaves clues. A crime of passion does not look like a stranger was involved.”
