Filmmaker and bicyclist Casey Neistat was fined $50 for riding outside the bike lane in New York City due to an ambiguous law requiring cyclists to use provided bike pathlane. In the opening of the video, you can see Neistat defiantly protesting his ticket claiming at the bike lane is unsafe but to no avail. As a result, he is made this short PSA video in protest where he films himself riding strictly in the bike lane and purposely crashing into trash, taxi and even a police cruise (I’m sure I saw a smile on his face when he crashed into that) that blocks the lane.
The video is absolutely hilarious and Neistat follows the law so anally that the video becomes absurd and his message, perhaps lost. Good try though.
