The Work that Elon Musk has done with electricity through Tesla would make it’s namesake proud. Now that he’s managed to build a car that not only runs off electricity, but also drives itself, Musk has announced his next innovation: a home battery that could help move houses off the main power grid.
In this week’s call with Tesla Investors, Musk said that designs are done, the public will get its first glimpse in a couple months and it could be on the market in as little as six months.
The main benefit of this is that renewable energy like solar and wind, are hard to store. This battery would give people a reliable way to bank that excess energy, giving them the stability to move off the power grid… maybe even to start selling power back to the electric companies.
Now, we just have to see how much it costs.
