When I was in high school, there were the jocks, the band people, the drama people, and my people… the chorus people. You learned a lot in a high school chorus… for example, no matter how hot they might be, Sopranos are not worth it. Altos are always the way to go. The one thing we never really got to do in Chorus was sing the cool stuff. Sure, we had the occasional Billy Joel Medley and once in a while we’d do a pretty kick ass requiem, but we never had music like the kids in the Gifford Children’s Choir.
These kids got to not only perform one of the best songs in the history of video gaming, but they got to do it in the dark with light up shirts!
The song I’m talking about is “Still Alive” by Jonathan Coulton and it is from the the ending credits of the hit game: Portal.
Check out the video below featuring a soloist in a light up dress and a full chorus with digital equalizer shirts on! It isn’t the best video in the world, but it is all that we’ll get to see until they perform it again on May 2nd.
Bonus:
Here’s the same children’s choir singing Radiohead’s “No Surprises”
