Steven Spielberg has two major movies coming out this Christmas with Tin Tin and ‘The War Horse’. Now it is time to take a look back at his body of work and the one shot that has come to define him: The Spielberg Face.
The shot is known best as a dolly shot that comes in on a character’s face to convey extreme emotion. The shot can be seen in every movie he’s ever done. In some films, it is used over twenty times. A lot of people might get on his case for using the same shot over and over again… but I don’t see anyone nailing Martin Scorsese to the wall for his traditional long shots.
