There are a lo of internet memes that don’t really have much meaning or just lead back to a few twisted minds on 4Chan or Reddit, it is rare to see a popular meme like “Keep Calm and Carry On” actually has a pretty interesting history that dates back a lot farther than most of the people who use it.
It turns out that the original “Keep Calm” poster was created by the British Government during World War 2 as part of a set of three posters meant to bolster the population in a time of crisis. Interestingly, the poster was never officially released and was only discovered 50 years later in a small British book shop. Since then, it has become an iconic internet image and has been parodied thousands if not millions of times.
A short film that tells the story behind the ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ poster. Its origins at the beginning of WWII and its rediscovery in a bookshop in England in 2000, becoming one of the iconic images of the 21st century. Film, music, script and narration by Temujin Doran.
