I remember the day that George Lucas took the fun out of Star Wars for me. I was in college and a group of us had just stood in line to see the re-release of A New Hope. The movie I loved was still there, but like a stripper past her prime, it was covered with all sorts of make-up and special effects to hide the flaws. What George did in trying to improve his movie was take away the charm and replace it with an anorexic Jabba the Hutt.
The cheaper effects and the Henson puppets, that’s what made Star Wars so much fun to watch. Little flaws like the shaky monitors in the X-Wing made it feel real to me. Anyways, some anonymous guy on the net took Star Wars to a whole new level of realism. Check his more realistic take on Star Wars.
