When you think of Whole Foods, one of the first things that comes to mind (other than the fact that they should be called whole paycheck) is their green message. So, imagine the confusion a customer had when they realized the company is now selling peeled oranges in plastic containers.
Don’t oranges already come with their own, biodegradable wrapper? Sure, but someone apparently thought that customers would look past the additional landfill fodder because of the five seconds they now got to save by not having to peel the oranges themselves.
After Twitter had a veritable twitfit over the indiscretion, Whole Foods quickly pulled the product from the stores and apologized for their stupidity.
The funny thing is that now all of those packages of oranges will probably just end up in a landfill, oranges and all.
