We’re just a month away from the release of Captain America: Brave New World and Marvel has now dropped a new IMAX trailer for the upcoming film starring Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America and Harrison Ford as Thaddeus Thunderbolt Ross/ The Red Hulk.
With Marvel’s recent uneven performance, including the extremely lackluster third season of What If? that has already faded from people’s minds less than a month after its release, a lot of eyes are on this film as well as The Thunderbolts.
While Mackie has been great as the Falcon, he didn’t draw huge numbers in the Disney+ series, Falcon and Winter Soldier. That could be a large part of the reason that Marvel has reportedly set an opening weekend box office estimate of $85-$95 million. While most films would kill for those kinds of numbers, that would be a very modest premiere in the MCU.
The film has a lot going for it. We’ve got Harrison Ford, a new hulk, the introduction of Adamantium into the MCU. We could be in for something special. We’ll find out on Valentine’s Day Weekend.
