There’s been talk of a Trainspotting sequel for years. I’ve always been excited and terrified by the prospect. It was a great movie, but I don’t know if there’s another chapter there that I’d want to see. It would kind of be like a sequel to Catcher in the Rye. I had to do that as an assignment in high school and I made Holden Caufield an alcoholic who works for the draft board and he eventually walks into a pond and drowns himself.
Still, Danny Boyle thinks that there’s a story there worth telling and his track record makes me want to give him a chance and make it happen.
When asked about it recently, he said this:
“All the four main actors want to come back and do it. Now it is only a matter of getting all their schedules together, which is complicated by two of them doing American TV series.”
On the off chance you don’t remember, that means we’d be seeing: Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, Robert Carlyle, and Kevin McKidd back together again.
Currently, we know that John Hodge, the screenwriter of the original is working on the new film, based on the story, Porno, which “finds the characters crossing paths once again, this time against the backdrop of the pornography business.”
