Steven Universe is a weird show, but it’s got a lot of charm, and a story that is actually very interesting once you get into it. If you’ve never seen it, it’s the tale of a boy and the four anthropomorphic gem stones who care for him and guard the earth from other dangerous minerals. Steven, the main character, is the product of a union between a female gemstone and a human. The human is in Steven’s life, but he appears to live out of his van and doesn’t have custody of his child.

So, this month will launch a new series of episodes: 20 in 20 days, called Steven Universe: Summer Adventures. A big part of that will be the introduction of a new gemstone, Bismuth, who will be voiced by Orange is the New Black’s Uzo Aduba. It appears that her character has been in stasis for the last 5,000 years and is unaware of all the changes that have transpired on earth and with her friends.

Here is the first footage that’s been released for the new character:

Along with the new character, it looks the show, which is already very musical, will be getting it’s own all musical episode. This trend started with Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Scrubs, but has been carried through as widely as Grey’s Anatomy and USA’s shows Psych and Royal Pains. Here is the first clip that’s been released:
