The other day we showed off the first images of Sarah Paulson from the upcoming One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest prequel, Ratched, the origin story for one of the most hated characters in all of 20th century pop culture. Today, we’ve got the first trailer for the series and it looks like we are in for a show that is far more stylistically in-line with executive producer Ryan Murphy’s American Horror series and less in-line with the original film adaptation of the Ken Kesey novel. If you are fans of Murphy’s, this show is going to be a big hit for you, but if you are coming to the show purely as a fan of the original material, you may be in for a surprise.
Along with Paulson in the lead role, Ratched also stars Jon Jon Briones as Dr. Richard Hanover, Judy Davis as head nurse, Betsy Bucket, Charlie Carver and Alice Englert as hospital workers, Finn Wittrock as a serial killer locked away inside the facility. Vincent D’Onofrio as Governor George Wilburn, Cynthia Nixon as his press secretary, Gwendolyn Briggs, Sharon Stone and Brandon Flynn play a mother-son duo with revenge on their minds, Amanda Plummer as a local innkeeper, Corey Stoll as investigator Charles Wainwright, and Sophie Okonedo as multiple personality patient Charlotte Wells. Ratched checks in to Netflix on September 18th.
