Hulu just dropped the first trailer for Love, Victor, the series spin-off for the hit film, Love, Simon. Originally, the show was slated to appear on Disney+, but the powers that be decided that its focus on a teenage boy discovering his sexual identity fell too far outside of the streaming network’s family friendly ethos. So, they ported it off to Hulu, their sister streamer that can safely feature edgier content while allowing Mickey to keep his gloves as clean as the freshly fallen snow.

The trailer looks like typical “teenager finding himself” YA drama with a same-sex spin and we have to imagine that Disney+ would have gotten a lot of hell if it started popping up on the recommended lists next to Lion King and Lady and The Tramp. With that said, it would have been a bold move for them to take. This current policy has also shut down the revival of classic Disney series, Lizzie McGuire. The show’s first episode is said to be too mature than what the network likes. We can only hope that that show also finds life at Hulu.
