There’s more going on in the Fast & Furious franchise than the beef between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson. Today, it was announced by Netflix and DreamWorks Animation that the franchise would be getting some new life in the way of a new animated series from franchise producers: Vin Diesel, Neal Moritz, and Chris Morgan.

Interestingly, the new series will not focus on Dom and his crew, but on Dom’s younger teenage cousin, Tony Torretto. Tony’s dream is to follow his cousin’s example and he’s started off by getting recruited (along with his friends) to help the government infiltrate an elite racing league that is secretly a criminal organization bent on world domination.

Dreamworks Animation veterans, Tim Hedrick (DreamWorks Voltron Legendary Defender) and Bret Haaland (All Hail King Julien) are set to come on board as both the show’s executive producers and showrunners. No word on when we might expect to see the series pop up on Netflix, but the live-action franchise will continue in July of 2019 with the Jason Statham/ Dwayne Johnson Hobs and Shaw spinoff, followed by the next to FF installments in 2020 and 2021.
