The original release of the Sonic The Hedgehog trailer is going to go down in history as one of the most hated trailers ever released for a film and one of the few times internet outcry was so great that it caused a studio to stop and majorly rework a part of a film. So, now that we’ve got the ‘fixed’ trailer, how is it?
Paramount has not only done a great job of changing the Sonic animation to something more closely resembling the video games and less likely to inspire night terrors, but they’ve put out a trailer that feels like it belongs in the Sonic universe. Hell, the trailer even starts out in the Green Hill Zone.
The feeling is definitely that this will be a movie for the kids, but that’s how it should be. It’s goofy, silly, and now that it doesn’t make us scream in fear, it’ll probably be a lot of fun.
Sonic The Hedgehog hits theaters on February 14th.
Based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG tells the story of the world’s speediest hedgehog as he embraces his new home on Earth. In this live-action adventure comedy, Sonic and his new best friend Tom (James Marsden) team up to defend the planet from the evil genius Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his plans for world domination. The family-friendly film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
