Previous rumors of a spin-off from CBS All-Access series, Star Trek: Discovery have now been confirmed and fans are going to be really happy with what they have planned. The new series will star Crazy Rich Asians/ Discovery star Michelle Yeoh as her character takes off on a black ops-focused series. In the new series, Yeoh will still be playing Captain Philippa Georgiou but it will take her deep into Starfleet’s Section 31 division, a shadow organization within the Federation featured on Star Trek: Discovery.
There is currently no word on a title for the show, if any other Discovery characters will be joining her, or who else might be added to the cast, but we do have a statement from the CBS Trek architect, Alex Kurtzman:
“Michelle has shattered ceilings, broken boundaries and astonished us with her grace and gravitas for decades. As a human, I adore her. As an actor, I revere her. Erika and Boey are remarkable, exciting writers who bring a fresh perspective to the world of Star Trek, and we’re all thrilled to explore the next wild chapter in the life of Captain Philippa Georgiou.”
For her part, Yeoh had this to say:
“I’m so excited to continue telling these rich Star Trek stories. Being a part of this universe and this character specifically has been such a joy for me to play. I can’t wait to see where it all goes — certainly, I believe it will go ‘where no woman has ever gone before!’”
Now, please just give us an update on the Picard series!!!
