What does bad CGI Hollywood movie remakes of beloved classic cartoon shows and herpes have in common? You can’t make either of them go away.

Warner Bros. just announced that the studio will be developing a CGI/live-action Yogi Bear movie based on the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon.

“Surf’s Up” co-helmer/co-writer Ash Brannon is set to direct the film while two executive producers of “That 70’s Show” are penning the screenplay.

“The project, culled from Warners’ vast library, is planned as a live-action/animated hybrid along the lines of Fox’s 2007 hit “Alvin & the Chipmunks.” Much of the movie will be live action, but Yogi Bear and sidekick Boo Boo will be done in CG animation.”

Yogi Bear appeared originally as a supporting character in 1958 to another classic cartoon, “The Huckleberry Hound Show.” It was not till 1961 that he got his own show featuring his exploits at Jellystone Park, accompanied by Boo Boo, getting into mischief and annoying their nemesis, Ranger Smith.
