In a recent interview, Elon Musk, creator of the Tesla, Solar City, SpaceX, and the Hyperloop, has hinted that he sees the need for a neural lace that would insert AI into the human brain. He’s working from the premise that our online presence essentially means that we have a digital version of ourselves, making us de facto cyborgs.
If this is really a project that he’s working on and not just a dream, then we may seriously be looking at the next stage of assisted human evolution. He first discussed it in an interview this past June (video below), but he just responded to a Tweet from a fan about the project and he said that he’s working on it and may have an announcement inside the next few months.
