Rice Paddy Crop Art More Awesome Than Crop Circles

Apparently rice paddy art is a summer trend that is beginning to emerge in Japan. Created by strategically arranging and growing different colors of rice plants, crop art is in fact man made (not by aliens) and not painted.

Pink Tentacle reports that “the largest and finest work is grown in the Aomori prefecture village of Inakadate, which has earned a reputation for its agricultural artistry.” Some of the images in the gallery below are taken recently and depict Napoleon and a Sengoku-period warrior, both on horseback. Other work from this year’s show include the 16th century samurai Naoe Kanetsugu and his wife, Osen, as well as everyone’s favorite manga character, Doraemon.
