Relativity Media has revealed some details about their new live-action “The Brothers Grimm: Snow White” film directed by Tarsem Singh (Immortals, The Cell). As expected, the film will have Singh’s distinctive visual style which is quite hard to describe, but you’ll know it when you see it.
According to a report by Comingsoon.net, the film will draw artwork and design from “a wide range of inspiration, including a very Indian-looking palace and several masquerade designs reminiscent of Mardi Gras and old storybook illustrations.”
The characters themselves will feature extremely bright and colorful costumes. For example the Prince (Armie Hammer) will be seen in a coat with tale and rabbit ears emerging fro his top hat.
Snow White (Lilly Collins) is described as a complete departure from the classic Disney version. Instead, she will be more of a fighter who’s “actively trying to win back her rightful throne” after being exiled from her kingdom. Because of the new contemporary spin, Snow White will be fighting and fans can expect multiple action sequences.
As for the seven dwarfs… each will “features a distinctive look and seems to be nicknamed by their costume. ‘Cowboy’ wears a cowboy hat, ‘Wolf’ is draped in animal skin and another wears a crooked top hat.”
Meanwhile, “The Evil Queen (Julia Roberts) takes the cake for costume changes. Her character had pages and pages of different elaborate dresses in various colors and shapes, including an impressive ice-inspired design.”
“The Brothers Grimm: Snow White” is set for release on March 16, 2012 and will also stars Nathan Lane, Robert Emms, Mare Winningham, Michael Lerner, Mark Povinelli, Jordan Prentice, Danny Woodburn, Sebastian Saraceno, Ronald Lee Clark, Martin Klebba and Joey Gnoffo.
