There’s a good chance that, if you have an internet connection, you’ve heard of Chewbacca mom. Last week, she was just a normal mom who shopped at Kohls. Now, Candace Payne has a Facebook video with over 140 million views, has been given tons of free stuff from Kohls, has been on the James Corden Show, met JJ Abrams, and is about to meet the real Chewbacca. Not too shabby. Let’s start where it all began.
When people outside of her small group of friends saw the video, it became an instant viral smash. From there, it wasn’t long before Kohl’s saw that one of their loyal customers had created a great PR opportunity for them, and they wanted to capitalize on it.
At that point, there was no turning back. The machine was set in motion and Candace was going to be famous for at least the next few days. James Corden agreed. Not only did the late night host bring Chewbacca mom in for a bit, but he also brought in JJ Abrams, director of Star Wars: The Force Awakens to up the anty!
He even invited her on to the couch to talk about her new found fame:
The interview ends with her finding out that Peter Mayhew, the real Chewbacca, is sending four VIP passes for her family to attend a convention where he’ll be a guest, so he can meet her.
It’s great to see a geeky mom go viral!
